An Apartment in Xintiandi

"Mediterranean lifestyle in China"
Modern Design with Mediterranean Accents for a Two-Story Apartment in Shanghai.
This project was tailored around the lifestyle of a young Chinese-Italian couple with a deep passion for cooking. Their diverse backgrounds inspired the choice of colors and materials, influencing the layout of the space.
Italian furniture, combined with traditional Chinese pieces, sets the perfect ambiance for a home where friends are frequently invited to gather around the large white kitchen island, the centerpiece of the residence.
The main floor features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a spacious open area encompassing the living room and kitchen, connected to the upper floor by sculptural stairs crafted from wooden steps on thin metal supports.
Functionality is a key aspect of the design: each cabinet is custom-built to maximize storage efficiency, fulfilling the clients’ specific requirements.
Clean lines and neutral materials dominate the main structure, accentuated by occasional inserts of vibrant grey or blue tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms.
On the upper level, a glass enclosure can easily transition from a studio to a third bedroom, situated between two terraces—one private and the other larger, equipped with dining space and barbecue facilities. This adds to the allure of this unique apartment with views over Shanghai’s most exclusive district.
